Placing Bids

Bidding is restricted to logged in members only, so first make sure you are logged in to our site using the login form at the top of our website.

When logged in, choose the item you wish to bid on, and below the item description you will find the bidding area.

Entering your Bid

Simply type in the value you are prepared to pay, and press the "Send Bid" button. Please note you must accept our terms of use before your bid is accepted by the system.

Your bid must of course be higher than any current bids. You can place as many bids as you like to ensure you win the item, or you can also use our Proxy Bidding system.

Proxy Bidding

Proxy Bidding functions in a similar way to the popular eBay auction website. When placing your bid, simply type in the highest amount you are willing to pay and check the Proxy Bidding option.

Your initial bid will be placed at the minimum required amount above the current bid price. If another user then outbids you, our system will automatically increase your bid until the point where your highest Proxy Bid is met.

Let's say the items start bid is £30, and you place a Proxy Bid of £40... If there are no other bids you would get the item for £30 (assuming it meets the auctioneers required Reserve Price). If someone else bids £35, the system will automatically increase your bid to £36. This continues on your behalf until your maximum (Proxy Bid) is reached.

Finally you just need to wait for the end of the auction. You will be notified of the progress via your registered email address, for instance if someone outbids you, or if you are the eventual winner of the item.

Reserve Prices

Similar to all auctions both online and offline, the auctioneer is able to set a Reserve Price for their items if required. This is higher than the initial start price, and may or may not be disclosed publicly depending on the owners wishes.

If you place a bid that is higher than the current bid but below the reserve price, then the auctioneer is not contractually obliged to sell the item at all and can withdraw it from sale. However the auctioneer may or may not decide to accept your bid after the auction has ended, so it's always worth trying your luck!

Regardless of whether the Reserve Price is made public or not you will be aware if your bid has met these requirements on the item listing. A message will be displayed stating either Reserve Price Not Met, or Reserve Price Met accordingly.

Buy It Now (BIN)

Some items have Buy It Now prices attached. This is the price that the auctioneer is willing to accept in order to close the auction before the end date. This price is more often than not set higher than the reserve price to reflect the fact that the auctioneer may miss out on a potentially higher bid by closing the auction.

If you agree with the price then simply press the Buy It Now button and the auction will close with your submitted BIN bid as the winning bid. An email confirmation will be sent to both yourself and the auctioneer, and the next step of the purchase will commence as detailed below in the next section.

How do I pay for the item?

We act on behalf of many different companies to clear their surplus equipment, so we cannot include an automatic payment gateway on our auction site. If you are the winner of the auction then you will be contacted by a dreamscience representative during UK office hours with a range of payment options that are available to you. We will also advise you of any shipping costs, although collection in person is also available at no cost, or you can arrange your own shipping if required.

In situations where dreamscience deal with payments, we accept all major credit and debit cards, cheques and bank transfers.

Please note items will only be shipped on clearance of funds.

If your purchase is required urgently we strongly recommend you use a credit or debit card as this is the fastest way to settle the auction. dreamscience are unique in our field as we are often able to arrange next working day delivery within the UK, and also fast delivery options worldwide.

We take a great deal of pride in our packaging and delivery so you can feel safe in the knowledge your item will arrive to you both on time and in the condition we state on our listings!

Remember, placing a bid is a commitment to buy!
